Agape Faithworks Formal Guidelines 2024

indicates a required answer

From time to time, Agape FaithWorks sponsors activities requesting semi-formal or formal attire. In keeping with our desire to honor the Lord in all things (1 Corinthians 10:31), and in an effort to uphold our responsibility to be modest (1 Timothy 2:9-10), students and guests to such events must be in compliance with the following guidelines.

Dress Code:

Ladies are encouraged to use discretion when selecting attire to be sure it is classy, tasteful and such that no criticism can be made. We have
created the following guidelines to help you choose wisely and appropriately.
Acceptable:
     • All dresses must be formal (tea length to floor length) evening gown
     • Slits that stop no more than 3 inches above knee
     • Spaghetti straps and strapless dresses are permitted. Front neckline must not be revealing and show no cleavage. (See rule of
     thumb for plunging necklines below.)
     • In the back - dresses should not be cut lower than the top of the waist
Unacceptable:
     • Plunging necklines (Rule of thumb: If you can bend over without needing to cover yourself with your hand, your neckline is
     appropriate.)
     • Midriffs (the area under your ribcage and just above your waist or hips) showing (including 2-piece dresses)
     • Cutouts below the natural bra line on the front and/or sides of the dress
     • Slits higher than 3 inches above your knee
     • See through gowns

Gentlemen are asked to dress appropriately and be equally tastefully dressed as is suggested for the ladies, as an act of their thoughtful
consideration. We have created the following guidelines to help you choose wisely and appropriately.
Acceptable:
     • Tuxedos, dress suits (matching jacket and slacks), or formal military uniforms (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast
Guard, etc.), are all great choices.
     • Dinner jacket with trousers is an acceptable look for gentlemen.
     • Neck ties, bow ties, or bolo ties should be worn.
     • Collared, button-up shirts
     • Dress Shoes or dress sneakers, appropriate for dancing, are required.
Unacceptable:
     • T-Shirts
     • Jeans of any style or color
     • Tennis Shoes

Event Etiquette:
     • Students that leave the premises during the event will not be permitted to return.
     • If you come with a date, we respectfully ask that there be no public displays of affection between one another, such as hand
     holding, kissing, etc.
     • Chaperones will be at the event for your safety and should be treated courteously and with respect.

As a student or guest of student, I understand the guidelines as stated in the Agape FaithWorks Semi-Formal/Formal Guidelines. I am
aware that if I do no meet the standards set forth in the guidelines, I will no be admitted to the event.
